BIG HELP OUT - UGP WOODLAND CLEANUP!
Thanks to the 25 volunteers who took part collecting rubbish from a section of woodland within Downland Copse.
Those involved included Churchcoombe Community Association, Uckfield Town Council, Brighter Uckfield, the 4th Uckfield cubs & scouts and members of UGP.
FIFTY bags of rubbish were collected including three tyres, car parts, shopping trolleys and even an old trampoline! Well done to everyone who helped.
RIVERSIDE WASTE PROJECT RESULTS
Earlier in the year, Brighter Uckfield teamed up with the Ouse & Adur Rivers Trust and Strandliners to clean up a stretch of river behind the industrial estate in Uckfield. The team collected thousands of pieces of litter in the time they were there! This was made up of about 86% plastics (see graph left) - sad news for the environment, but now this has been highlighted, hopefully it will improve!
In the coming months we hope to do this again as a UGP exercise, taking the same stretch of water to see how it's improved. We would love to open this up to any volunteers - so if you are interested in joining us one morning and cleaning a section of the uck river, then please let us know - either by going to the volunteer page or emailing us.
